To the Athletic Mums Feeling a Bit ‘Squishy’ – Here’s How to Get Your Body Back.

To athletic mothers who are starting to feel a little ‘squishy’ as the years roll by

This is for you.

It’s easy to blame getting old but that’s not your problem

Let me help you reclaim the body and energy of your youth in 3 simple steps.

  1. Eat More Protein

It’s easy to roll your eyes when you read this (another gym junkie talking about protein)

Women in particular tend to avoid this advice. Linking this with testosterone filled men who want to bulk up – hardly relatable.

It’s not about that, it’s all about body composition. I.e. In relatable terms ‘ tone’. Women as a whole VASTLY under eat protein. Take my sister, been in the gym for 15 years plus 3 kids and has only recently woken up to how much this simple trick can help!

Eat 2g of protein for each kg of body weight. Weigh 60kg? Eat 120g protein per day.

ATTENTION – *120g steak is NOT 120g protein.

A simple rule is this: Divide the gross weight by 4 to get the protein content. 120g steak = 30g protein

  2. Get To The Gym

Again you might read this, think of course and move on. The weekend netball games and running around after the kids isn’t enough. You’ve got to get blood moving, heart pumping and endorphins flowing. This helps to:

    – reduce stress (in turn helping to reduce body fat).

-improve metabolism which improves fat metabolism.

-Increases your energy during the day = more incidental movement

-less sugar cravings = more balance macronutrient intake

  3. Lift Heavy. Then Lift Even Heavier.

This would have to be the biggest missing link. If you really want to transform your body this is the key. Compared to 20 years women lifting is much more prevalent which is great.

    BUT

You are still not lifting heavy – enough, often enough. This is where guidance and expertise in your corner really helps. We often need to push women to show them what they are capable of. We’ve seen plenty of women who think they are lifting heavy and at the right intensity. Only to find they are capable of in some cases, doubling the weight on the bar!

Don’t get me wrong this needs to be done safely, at the right time, with the right program & guidance.

If you take these three tips on board and stick with them, you’ll transform how you look and feel.

We see it here every day.

    Are you next in line?!
